ABOUT:
Like Frank Sinatra who ad all the ladies swooning with just one glance, Penn has the most soulful eyes that will melt your heart. Pennington is a very calm, easy going guy. He much prefers lounging on the couch over participating in sporting events, although on occasion he will join you for a short game of fetch. Pennington is a cheerful guy who has the fastest, happiest tail in all the land. Pennington is being fostered with small dogs and cats and he is very friendly with everyone. He is housetrained and is a quiet guy in the house. Pennington is a great dog for someone who is looking for a buddy and companion.

Are you a dog person with cat curiosities? What about a kitten that plays fetch?! Frankie is your dude! And he’s super proud when he catches whatever is at the end of a wand toy and will carry it around in his mouth. He is full of energy.
Frankie loves to be around people. He will usually start purring the moment he sees you. And he loves food. He is willing to try almost any food from popcorn to broccoli to licking out of an ice cream bowl. Frankie would love an active home and a home with at least one other playful cat. A home where someone will play with him with his toys. He is always on the move! But Frankie also has a softer side. He loves to sleep and snuggle with his stuffed bunny. He likes to “nurse” on his stuffed bunny when he’s ready to go to sleep.

HISTORY: Bonnie and her brother Clyde were found as very young kittens on the street and subsequently rescued from an open access shelter in Chicago.

ABOUT: Perfect tabby kitten alert! Bonnie has it all! She's playful and active as any kitten should be, but she is also calm and affectionate and into all-night cuddles and belly rubs. She goes gaga over wand toys and lives for a fresh bowl of food and cozy place to nap.
Bonnie has lived very happily in a lively foster home with other cats, a dog, and even a hedgehog! She's comfortable in her own skin and confident which would make her a great candidate for any sort of loving and lively home as long as she has someone to snuggle with at night. This little girl is a very special and sweet kitten.
As for most kittens, we recommend she go to a home with other active and playful cats so she can continue to hone her cat skills and live a fulfilling life. Are you looking to add a tabby baby to your menagerie? Maybe Bonnie is the little one for you!

Dot might be the best cat ever. She is so polite and content and easy going. Very adaptable. She's a beauty - a shiny, silky black coat and big green eyes. She's elegant. She looks like a Siamese cat with a black coat.
But Dot has a fun playful side too. She wrestles and chases the other young cat in her foster home. She loves the cat tree and looking out the window at birds.
She is affectionate and loves human attention. She has warmed up to her new dog buddies too.
Dot was a young mother to three kittens. Unfortunately, only one survived. She was a loving mother. She was one of those fun moms that's more like a friend than a mom. lol. But now that her son has been adopted, she would like a forever home to enjoy where she can live it up and enjoy her youth!

GENDER: Female
KIDS: Yes
DOGS: Yes
CATS: Yes

HISTORY:
Amari was rescued from an animal shelter in Chicago and was the only kitten in her litter to survive.

ABOUT:
Amari is a playful and zany little kitten. Though she had a rough start to her life, coming to a shelter and then losing all of her siblings, she's a pretty confident and affectionate kitten. She loves eating meals, playing with wand toys, and being wherever the excitement is.
Her current foster home has a handful of dogs and cats and Amari has had successful interactions with a few of the dogs - she's very curious about them! We think Amari would like a home with a good amount of mental and physical stimulation. She does exhibit some very typical kitten behaviors with her teeth and claws, so we'd suggest a home with older children who are used to kitten shenanigans would be best.
Amari is a very special little cat who is eager to bust out of her foster bedroom and close to the action of a happy and busy home. She'll be spayed in early November and available for adoption after that. Submit an application to meet Amari ASAP because this little panther won't stick around long!

HISTORY:
Billy and his littermate Blanca were rescued from an open access shelter in Chicago at approx 1.5 weeks of age. Billy will be neutered at the end of October and likely ready for adoption beginning November 1.

ABOUT:
Meet sweet and gentle Billy! This little boy was born in early August and despite being separated from his mother at a very young age, has grown into an active, playful, and healthy kitten.
Billy loved cozying up with a dog, cat, or human in his foster home. He loves fresh bowls of food. He loves crinkle toys and wand toys. And he loves giving nose kisses. He's talkative and already showing himself to be a very good companion cat. He's playful and active as most kittens are, but his favorite thing to do is get warm and cozy.
Since Billy is still pretty young and a bit of a needy little dude, we think he'd do best in a home where there are other young and/or active cats so that he can continue to develop his skills and burn off some of his kitten energy. The ideal home would be one with lots of cozy beds and laps and heated surfaces where he can nap the day away.
If you're looking for a gentle and affectionate kitten to add to your family, we can't recommend Billy enough. He's a real charmer.

HISTORY:
Blanca and her littermate Billy were rescued from an open access shelter in Chicago at approx 1.5 weeks of age. Blanca will be spayed at the end of October and likely ready for adoption beginning November 1.

ABOUT:
Meet sweet and sassy little Blanca! This girl was born in early August and despite being separated from her mother at a very young age, has grown into an active, playful, and healthy kitten.
Blanca has excellent climbing skills, an inquisitive mind, and is always interested in catching a snooze in a lap or cozied up on a heated bed with one of the cats or dogs in her foster home. She's a very chatty cat and is always prepared to remind the humans in her home when her kitten belly is running low on food. She's very playful and confident. In short, Miss Blanca is a perfect kitten.
Since Blanca is still pretty young and very social, she needs to go to a home where there are other young and/or active cats so that she can continue to develop her skills and get her kitten wiggles out.

  • Tabby, Domestic Short Hair
  • Spayed/Neutered
  • Up-to-date with routine shots

HISTORY:
Hossa came from an open access shelter in Chicago as a solo kitten.

ABOUT:
Since coming into rescue, this little tabby nugget has really blossomed into a friendly and playful kitten. He gets along famously with his foster cat siblings and pals around with a couple of gentle dogs at his foster home, as well.
He’s good with kids, too, though he’s still learning how to harness his kitten energy, so he’ll need support to make the right choices with his chompers. He loves spending time with humans either cuddling with them or playing. He’s also quite good at entertaining himself.
We think Hossa could excel in a busy home with other cats, dogs, and kids. It's difficult for most kittens to excel in a home as the only cat, so we recommend he go to a home with at least one other young and active cat to show Hossa the ropes and help him burn off some of his kitten energy. If you’re looking for a young and sporty tabby boy to snuggle, little Hossa could be the right cat for you!

FOSTERED IN: Chicago, IL 60625
Estimated DOB: 2015
WEIGHT: 55lbs
KIDS: Likely
DOGS: Yes
CATS: Unlikely

HISTORY:
Sweet Tea was surrendered to an open intake animal control facility because one of the adult members of her home did not want to keep her.

ABOUT:
What breed mix is Sweet Tea? Who the heck knows… Rottweiler? Pit Bull? Boxer? Min Pin? Her microchip even had her listed as a Chow mix- Your guess is as good as ours. She’s a great medium sized girl (55lbs) with petite features.
Sweet Tea is a very sweet, very well behaved girl with a great medium-low energy level. She is generally very quiet in the house and just prefers to follow the people around and lounge in their proximity. She is excited when you come home and occasionally gets a mini case of the zoomies, but overall she just prefers to “hang out.” Sweet Tea is being fostered with a nervous dog who isn’t much for playing or interacting. She does well with him, but would probably appreciate a more playful roommate based on the unrequited play bows she throws at her foster brother. Sweet Tea has done well with all the other dogs she has met from puppies to smaller adult dogs. She has never had an accident and is no longer being crated in her foster home as it isn’t needed. She respects the baby gate used to keep her in a specific part of the house when no one is home. Sweet Tea has prey drive on her walks so we don’t think she will be a good fit for cats or small animals. Sweet Tea is very well behaved, she comes in from the (fenced) yard right away when called and is good at keeping all four paws on the floor. After being told “off” once, she has not tried to get on the bed or couch. (But being honest, girl would probably LOVE to snuggle up next to you on the couch.) Sweet Tea is a certified very good girl.

FOSTERED IN: Chicago, IL 60647
Estimated DOB: 2017
WEIGHT: 12lbs
KIDS: No
DOGS: Yes
CATS: Unknown

HISTORY:
Papi was found as a stray.

ABOUT:
Papi is a home-olympics athlete. We guess him to be around 2 years old and he has the energy level to match. He never tires of playing fetch and will bring his ball to his foster parents and will stand and wait for minutes hoping that you will throw it. If you don’t get the hint he might whine a bit, incase you didn’t notice him or the ball in your lap. Papi’s foster mom said he has the adorable habit of going out of his way to jump over things on his way back to you with the ball. This might be less efficient, but is apparently more fun (and no more work for you)! Papi prefers his Olympic events to be held at home as he can be anxious with strangers and will bark and snarl at new people. Papi will need an adult only home as children make him very very nervous. More so when they are running and screaming. Papi gets along fantastic with his canine foster sibling, but he can be reactive on leash with other dogs outside the home. His foster sister loves having him around because Papi isn’t much into treats so she always gets to scavenge his rejected treats.
Papi has great house manners: he is housetrained and is not being crated or restricted in any way when his foster family is not home. He will mark in new environments, but this is not unusual, as he has not yet been neutered. Once he has grown comfortable with his new family he loves to follow them everywhere. His foster mom says that Papi is quite the gentleman as he escorts her to all her bathroom breaks, even in the middle of the night. Papi likes to engage in verbal dialogue with his foster mom, but he is not especially noisy when he is left home alone and is doing fine in an apartment setting.
Papi will be available for adoption after his neuter on October 22nd. Due to the behaviors related to his anxiety and insecurities with children and strangers, he will be adopted out with a training requirement as a condition of his adoption.

HISTORY:
Poncho was found in a forest preserve wearing a tiny red poncho. No one knows how long she was out there by herself.

ABOUT:
If only Poncho could tell us her story….
Poncho is currently being fostered with dogs and cats, she gets along well with the resident pets but isn’t always fond of meeting dogs on leash outside the house. We think she would adapt well to another dog in her home, but we would recommend introducing them slowly. Poncho is overall a little shy and guarded with new people, pets, and environments. She is more wary with men than she is with women. Poncho walks well on leash and loves to go for car rides. She gets unusually excited and lively after a bath. She’s very good in the house and will go outside and use potty pads. She isn’t destructive and chooses to spend most of her day curled up in her dog bed. She generally chooses to lay in her dog bed vs on the couch. Poncho is on thyroid medication.

He has the loudest purr that is practically constant when getting your attention. Chin scratches will put him right to sleep! Apricot loves to explore and play! He was brought in from a hoarding situation and was fearful of people at first. Luckily, with his foster home, he now loves to snuggle and sleep on his foster mom's lap. He will happily roll over to let you rub his big belly. Apricot is good with other cats and lives in a home with a dog. HISTORY:
Renna was relinquished to an open admission shelter in Chicago because her family could not longer take care of her.

ABOUT:
We rescued Renna the very same day that she came into the shelter. She was scared like most animals are going into a loud shelter, but when she went to meet the veterinarian that was volunteering that day, Renna just melted into her arms. She was fine with the vaccines and blood draw. Even though we didn’t have a spot open, we couldn’t leave her behind.
She hid in her carrier for a day or so, but couldn’t contain her love of rubbing up against everyone and everything. She was especially smitten with her foster brother, Dali, who was rescued the same day.
She is a bundle of fluffy love. This is the only way to explain her. She is great with the litter box, and a fantastic eater. She has big eyes and a face that will melt your heart. Come meet her, and get your best, “awwwww” ready!

ABOUT:
Are you looking for a pair of love bugs to provide you with companionship? Are you wary of kittens and their wild and wacky ways? Are you looking to improve the lives of two cats who have had their world turned upside down?
Look no further than Rico and Stan!
These boys are the gold standard when it comes to easy adult cats. They are friendly and affectionate, impeccable litter box users, cuddly and curious, yet mature and down for pretty serious loafing.
Rico is the slight more reserved of the two but once he knows you’re opening the food cans, he loves you! He is a sweet lap cat with the softest fur and brilliant white socks. He’s a great eater, always excited to hang out with humans, but somewhat unsure of the other cats in his foster home (with whom he has had very limited exposure to thus far). He is a gentle boy, never sassy, and really just looking for a home where he can feel safe and well-fed and adored.

What would he do for a Klondike bar? We are not sure, but he will do anything for his meals or treats. This guy is very food motivated! We didn’t think his eyes could get any bigger than they already are, but when he saw his wet food, they about popped out.
Klondike would do well in almost any house hold. Come meet him so he can win you over!

ABOUT:
Attention ginger cat & floofy tail lovers!!
Want to adopt yourself an interesting cat? Look no farther.
1) 80% of all orange cats are male. Vigo is one of the 20% that are female. We knew that most orange cats are male, so we didn’t really look too hard before sending him..er..her...of to be neutered. Well. Vigo had ovaries so he (she) got spayed instead!
2) She sleeps in flower pots on top of dead plants. If you’re a horrible plant parent and have a lot of dead plants, Vigo will make herself at home on them.
3) She’s fine being held until you want to bring her out of somewhere that she shouldn’t be. Then she doesn’t love being held.
4) She loves to bat toys around, but her favorite toy is table-top-clutter. SO many fun things can be found in the piles of things that humans “are going to get around to.”
Vigo is an adaptable, independent older kitten. She’s past the crazy kitten stage, but does get a case or two of the zoomies every day. During the day she likes to play, zoom, and nap on the dining chairs. In the evenings she likes to cuddle. Vigo is being fostered with a cat and she coexists very seamlessly. She is also very comfortable with the resident dog.

ABOUT:
Ready for a sob story? Abby comes to us after a difficult start. She had had stillborn babies while she was just a baby herself. She is now spayed and has been working on building trust with the world. She will need some patience, but she will reward with sweetness and cuddles. She LOVES her heated bed and sitting and watching out the window on a cat tree. With some encouragement, she will cuddle up with the foster home's big dog and is fine with the resident cats. She will do best with someone experienced and patient with cats and will be fine with other animals (due to her shy nature, small children might not be a good match). Abby is just adorable and tiny and very sweet. She simply needs patient and positive interactions with the world and she will likely bloom into a very devoted and loving cat. Doesn't that sound rewarding? Let's give Abby the great life she deserves.

HISTORY:
Maggie and her buddy Geanie came from Alabama. They had an owner who took the girls into his care from a homeless person. When that owner passed away his elderly father took the girls in and cared for them, unfortunately he had to go into an assisted living facility so the girls came to Lulu’s Locker to find their forever home together.

ABOUT:
Maggie and Geanie are both easy-going dogs with simple needs. Maggie is the younger of the two so she is a little bit more energetic. Maggie can be vocal on walks when she sees other dogs, but only because she is so excited to stop by and say hi. She stops barking after she is allowed to greet them. Maggie is a polite girl who is good with people in and out of her home and has never met a stranger. Maggie is housetrained and will ask to go outside when she needs to. She is not being crated but she has good house manners and is currently given free roam of a portion of the house when no one is home. Maggie enjoys a good car ride and likes to stand up and put her nose out the window to take in all the smells. Maggie will occasionally pick up a toy to play with...but we mean occasionally. You’re more likely to see her lounging in the sun soaking up the heat. We would like to have Geanie and Maggie adopted together as they have been together for Maggie’s whole life.

ABOUT:
Geanie and Maggie are both easy-going dogs with simple needs. Geanie is a very well mannered girl who walks well on leash. She is good meeting strangers in and out of the house. Geanie is well behaved in the house and is given free roam of a portion of the house when no one is home. Although Geanie’s naughty puppy days are over, she is still a clever girl who figured out how to open the baby gate in her foster home so they had to double-up. She is housetrained, but being an older lady she does best if she is invited to go outside more frequently. Geanie is very comfortable in the car and just gets comfy to enjoy the ride. Geanie is very low energy and mostly likes to meander around, go on the occasionally short walk, and take as many naps as she can manage to fit in. When she stores up enough motivation she will occasionally chew on an antler but that’s about as playful as she gets. Geanie is overall very quiet, but every once in awhile she’ll share a polite, low beagle bay with her foster mom. Geanie would love a more calm home with a slower pace and unlimited belly rubs. We would like to have Geanie and Maggie adopted together as they have been together for Maggie’s whole life.

HISTORY:
Paddy was found as a stray in Chicago around St. Patrick's Day.

ABOUT:
Paddy was found as a stray. Paddy is a laid back dude that needs time to adjust to new environments because he is blind. He is currently in a foster home with 2 adults and 3 dogs. He is fine with the other dogs, but mainly just keeps to himself. He does prefer more laid back dogs that respect his space.
Paddy is still getting use to a housebreaking routine. With being older, he does need more frequent potty breaks. He is currently wearing a belly band, but does not have accidents at night when sleeping. He is not crate trained, but has his own area in the house when he is left alone.
He is very good on walks, and is fine being in public. His two favorite activities are to snuggle on your lap, and lounge in the sun. He likes baths and loves to help assist in the kitchen when meals are being made. Paddy does get his exercise by zooming around at night for a few minutes, and also gets happy feet when he hears his foster parents’ voices.
Paddy will do best in a quiet household that is patient with his potty habits, and mindful of the surroundings since he cannot see.

HISTORY: Fabio was found as a stray. He had a microchip but his previous owner was unable to be contacted.

ABOUT: Fabio has two major needs in life: Snuggles and Snacks. If you’re looking for an aloof or independent cat Fabio is not the guy for you. Fabio lives for attention and loves to be held. He puts the companion in companion animal. Fabio is also very treat motivated so his foster home has started clicker training with him and said he is very responsive. We would love to find him a home that would continue this enrichment activity that he excels at. Fabio will probably do best in a more calm home. He will never be the star of a sports team, but he will on occasion bat a toy around for a few minutes. You can leave your laser pointer in the drawer, he isn’t falling for it. He’s more of a netflix and chill vs a jane fonda workout video kind of guy. Fabio is a more alpha-male cat and he would do best with calm female feline companions, but would also be a great option for someone who only wants one cat. Adopt Fabio and you will have a shadow and bestie for life.

HISTORY:
Canelo was rescued from a Chicago shelter.

ABOUT:
Canelo is 10 years young. When he first went to his foster home, he did not know the joy of snuggling on the couch. That all changed soon! He is a paws up, binge TV watcher with his favorite person. He does have a few stuffies that he drags around, but not really into toys. He prefers small dogs. He has not done well with big dogs. He lives with older children and has met a younger child and did well.
He does stay in his crate at night and when his foster mom goes out. He does have accidents so someone who is home more to let him out would be ideal.
His favorite thing to do (besides be with his human) is to be outside and go for walks. He is even great about going outside to potty in any type of weather, true Illinois dog!
He would love a home where he could spend a lot of his time on his person’s lap being petted. He is a loyal and loving companion. He doesn’t even mind being carried like a baby once he knows you!

HISTORY:
Jerry and his brother Ben were adopted out from a partner rescue as kittens. When their owner had to enter an assisted living facility we welcomed them into our program.

ABOUT:
Jerry is a handsome, large, gentle boy. He can be a little shy when meeting new people, but he does get curious and brave enough to come out and say hi. Jerry is full of purrs and headbutts once he gets to know you. Jerry might be scared at first, but he slowly can be won over with some head scratches and might even take a step towards you for more. One of their feline foster siblings isn’t always appreciative of their presence so Jerry (And his brother) are separated from the resident cats. Their foster mom spends a lot of time with them and sleeps in their room a few evenings each week. On those nights both boys jump up onto the bed to sleep with her. They also greet her at the door with meows and head butts, especially at feeding time. While one of the resident cats doesn’t appreciate them, the boys are very friendly towards her the few times they have met. The second resident cat loves to go for “visits” to Ben and Jerry’s room and they will all lay together and groom each other. If Jerry gets scared he chooses to run and hide and never lashes out or gets angry. Jerry previously lived with a senior dog, and would likely adapt well to a calm dog. Jerry will make a loving, calm companion for anyone lucky enough to adopt him.

HISTORY:
Buttercup was surrendered with her kitten to an open admission shelter.

ABOUT:
Buttercup is a very laid-back even-tempered girl. She is not needy and knows how to go with the flow. Buttercup is currently being fostered with a few other cats and three large dogs. She is completely unphased by the other pets in the home. She doesn’t mind if someone chooses to lay with her, but she doesn’t go out of her way to find someone else. She would do great in a home with other pets, or as an only cat, as she is “cool with whatever.”
Buttercup was previously at our adoption center but she spent a tad too much time at the food bowl so we moved her to a foster home where her food intake could be managed. Buttercup is never late for a meal, but she also does enjoy playing and exercise. The laser pointer and a wand toy are at the top of her list. Buttercup is being fostered with two teenage children and she is a very patient lady who never seems to get angry or annoyed.
We believe Buttercup will be very agreeable and friendly with children, but because she is so relaxed and chill she might not love a very busy household with young active children. Although she is affectionate and loves scratches Buttercup generally chooses to sleep by herself at night. Also...Buttercup is convinced that the absolute best time to solicit attention is when someone is using the restroom and will race to join you!

CATS: Yes

HISTORY:
Milena came from a suburban animal control with her littermates.

ABOUT:
Sweet and gentle Milena is looking for a special home to adopt her. Milena has been with us since she was a little kitten, but she has always been the shy/reserved type. She has been in her current foster home, waiting for adoption, for more than a year. Milena is never going to be a lap cat nor a snuggler, but she is fantastic with other animals. She is currently being fostered with 2 dogs, and 4 cats. Because Milena is more “into” animals than she is people, we will require that she be adopted into a home with at least one other pet who will appreciate and welcome her company. She loves to curl up and hang with the other cats and dogs, but has never been much into playing.
Milena’s ideal home might be one that is looking to add an additional pet as a companion to an existing pet(s), but are concerned about having enough attention to share with another pet. Maybe they work long hours and have an existing pet who could benefit from a buddy, but likes to be the center of attention when it comes to people. Milena will never compete for attention.
Although Milena doesn’t always want people all-up-in-her-business, she is very curious. She loves to sit back and watch the activity of the house. Her foster mom says if she gets scared away it’s only a few minutes before her curiosity draws her back in. You might even say she’s a little creepy in the way that she is always around 🙂 She likes to be around to observe, but will always be at a distance. She will let her foster mom give her some butt scratches on occasion, but they don’t last long and she is never one to seek them out.
Milena’s current foster home has young grandchildren that visit frequently. She always chooses to remove herself from the environment when the kids are around, so she will do best in a home with no children. Visiting children won’t be a problem, she’s smart enough to remove herself until they leave. But overall Milena needs a quiet, predictable environment that cannot be provided by a home with young children.
Chi-Town Shy Cat Program:
Shy cats tend to spend more time waiting for their forever homes because their initial meet and greets don’t go well because they are usually hiding under a chair or behind the couch. Most of these shy cats have come around with their primary caretaker and just need to adjust to a new person and environment.
We have a program specifically designed to give them the chance to shine. Our shy cats are available for a foster to adopt period of 30 days so that they can decompress and become comfortable allowing their potential adopter to get to know them. We will bring all the supplies needed, if the foster chooses to make it permanent and adopt at the end of the 30 days they get to keep all the supplies.
Milena is eligible for adoption through the Chi-Town Shy Cat Program.

COLOR/BREED: Black Shorthair

CATS: Yes

HISTORY:
Rogue was found with her two 4-6 month old kittens in an industrial area.

ABOUT:
Rogue was likely never socialized to be a pet cat. For this reason, she has some quirks that will require her to have an extra special adopter. She has a history of co-habitating well with other adult cats. She currently spends a lot of time with one of the confident resident cats in her foster home and while they occasionally get into cat politics, they mostly get along well and enjoy time with each other.
Rogue has come to enjoy the company of humans but always on her own terms! She doesn't like to be handled, but does allow nail trims. She doesn't like to be cuddled, but does enjoy a good head scratch. She loves meal time and wand toys and she is very chatty!
Rogue also seems to be quite comfortable around dogs. She's curious about them, but unbothered by their presence.
Rogue's favorite thing in the world is a cardboard scratcher. It's unclear if she likes the feeling of the scratching or the resulting tiny bits of cardboard she gets to flail all over the room after a good scratch sesh.
Rogue will need to be adopted by an experienced cat owner. She will need time to trust her new home, but she has done really well in her foster home. She will always have some quirks related to her lack of socialization. She can be a bit unpredictable so she should not go to homes with children. Something that she would tolerate yesterday she might not tolerate today. Things that did not stress her out yesterday, might stress her out today. She would make a fabulous companion for another cat(s).
One day Rogue figured out how to open the door to her “suite.” She went right to the kitchen to demand to be fed. Her foster mom didn’t even notice it was her until she looked down. She didn’t bother looking around or meeting any of other animals, she just went straight to the food.
Rogue is a talker and opinionated and you might even say bossy, but also reserved and shy. Rogue also has a bit of a silly and playful side.
