Marley’s Story

History:  Marley was a stray brought into Chicago Animal Care and Control.

About:  Marley is a sweet, mellow old man.  He is looking for a home where he can rest his head for his golden years.  He’s very low energy and likes to spend most of his day alternating between his dog bed and his food bowl.  (Sounds like he has the life we all dream of!) He will play in short bursts (10 minutes) with certain dogs, and politely/calmly ignores those who he doesn’t have a spark with. Marley couldn’t do stairs on his own when he first came to his foster home, but with the help of some supplements Marley is a boss on the stairs these days.  He might need some help in the future as he continues to age. Although slow on the stairs, Marley has no problem getting onto the couch himself. He enjoys leisurely walks and rolling in the grass. He LOVES to sit on the couch with his foster family. Marley also likes to occasionally chew on an antler, or follow his foster family around. But after about 15 minutes he gets tired and needs to go have a nap.  He’s great in the car and has been very appropriate with the kids he has met. He lives with cats but he does try to chase them on occasion. He will do best with dog savvy cats. We think Marley would do best in a home with older kids (teenagers) he is very friendly, but younger kids seem to give him a little anxiety. Marley is housebroken, but does need to go out more frequently like many senior pets. Marley’s foster mom used the following words to describe him: Slow, Loving, Cuddly, Old Man, Happy.  Sounds like a pretty awesome guy to us!!
